Fall Out Boy, I’ve Got a Dark Alley and a Bad Idea
Please put the doctor on the phone ‘cause I’m not making any sense
Blame everyone but me for this mess
And my back has been breaking from this heavy heart

Fall Out Boy - Hum Hallelujah
My words are my faith to hell with our good name
A remix of your guts, your insides x-rayed
And one day we’ll get nostalgic for disaster
We’re a bull, your ears are just a china shopI love you in the same way, there’s a chapel in a hospital
One foot in your bedroom and one foot out the door
Sometimes we take chances, sometimes we take pills
I could write it better than you ever felt itSo hum hallelujah
Just off the key of reason
I thought I loved you
It was just how you looked in the light
A teenage vow in a parking lot
‘Til tonight do us part
I sing the blues and swallow them, too

Seasons may change, winter to spring
But I’ll love you until the end of time

If There Ever Was a Time - Third Eye Blind
This song is proof that mediums of music and art have the power to be politically charged and incite recognition on a problematic issue. Third Eye Blind wrote this song to recognize the Occupy Wall Street movements that are taking place all over the country. I see it even in my own capital city of Providence, RI. Now, more than ever we need to alleviate the oppression being instilled by bureaucrats, Wall Street giants, and pay-to-play ethical issues. This is way past just legislation, way past the White House, way past party lines. It reminds me of another political song of theirs called “Red Star”. This song calls out to the youth of America, saying that it’s our time. If there’s ever been a time to adhere to such a concept, it’s now. Stand up to Wall Street, stand up to financial aristocracy. This generation needs to stand up for it’s future children and bring down class dominance. Stay informed and use your voice in the political sphere before others try to take it away from you.
I’ve been putting off listening to this out of fear that it’d be disappointing and generic-sounding (silly, I know) but it’s wonderful. I’m so proud of them for continuing to churn out powerful songs like this. :)
